Couple of photos taken in Cottage Grove.

1 - Taken June 19, 1979, #8910,9243 and 3859 lead the "Roseburger" (EUROY), arriving in CG to set out some empties for the OP&E from their train of over 100 cars.
2 - SD45R #7514 with the 9214 and 9236 just picked up the SD-9E #4370 here in CG on August 4, 1984.

Happy Thanksgiving to all TO members. Try not to eat to much. Easier said than done with most of the goodies that are usually there on the table today.

Isn't that where they filmed the parade scene in "Animal House," complete with John Belushi jumping from the top of a building?

Yes. some of Animal House was filmed in Cottage Grove.

I remember sitting on an SD-9 while at "beans" on the house track about where that caboose is and watching "Emperor Of the North" being filmed.

Kodachrome9319, I am not related to Eric Lange that I know of. Yes, parts of "Animal House", like the parade, were shot in Cottage Grove. A lot of it was shot in Eugene where the actual Animal House was located. It was right near where the University of Oregon and Northwest Christian College are located. It was torn down in the early eighties and a medical office building is there now.

The north end of the OP&E yard and offices are off to the right out of the picture with the caboose in it and behind the photgrapher in the photo of SP 7514. Freight cars were dropped off and picked up by the SP at the south end of the yard. It was not a very big yard.
