One for the CGW Fans

CGW 216. Location, date and photographer unknown.

Found this one in the Dollar Picture Box at my local hobby shop today.

I know very little about the "Chicago Great Weedy" so would appreciate any information anyone has.

216 is its post-C&NW merger number. Originally was CGW 115-C.

Note the No 1 truck has one plain bearing and one roller bearing. EMD drawings showed them this way to illustrate both options available to the purchaser, but supplied all plain or all roller. This one apparently had a replacement wheelset and bearing on axle 2.

For years, all model train manufacturers made their trucks with one plain and one roller in imitation of the drawings.

Not quite as bad as the earlier faux paux every model manufacturer made, to duplicate the shape of a rough drawing of a truck which EMD put in its drawings, showing the main frame casting running straight instead of arched between the axles!

I'll second Dave's Oelwein guess. There isn't much to go on, but the building in the background sure appears to be the Oelwein Shops.
