Nostalgia & History > Mother, Slug, & Amtrak TooDate: 05/16/11 16:47 Mother, Slug, & Amtrak Too Author: knightswell I know the thread title sounds like a bad 70's movie, but instead it's a unique lashup of engines at Taylor Texas in April of '98. At the time, the Amtrak units were put to use on freight trains for a few months. Someone told me the two U.P. mother units were ex-WP, and the slug was ex-Katy. Don't know how true that is though.

This operation survived into the UP era and then they kinda disappeared. Those do look like ex WP units.
