Questions about Danville, CA interurban scene

Digging around the web for something else, I came across this postcard described as Hartz Ave. in Danville, CA, period.

Anybody know what we're looking at here? I don't have a good idea of how Sacramento Northern went through Danville - did they run down Hartz, or was this another operation entirely?

That is indeed the Antioch & Eastern's Diablo Branch. That view is northbound along Hartz Avenue in Danville. That's the former CP combine that was electrified for the branch.

The same photo appears on page 88 of Harre Demoro's "Sacramento Northern" published by Signature Press in 2009. The photo dates from 1922 and is from the Ted Wurm collection. The Danville branch was shortlived, operating from 1914 to 1924.
