Yes. NKP 910 built June 1964. B/N 29167. Renumbered Norfolk and Western 2910, then to Norfolk Southern 2910.

Sold to Springfield Terminal / Guilford 212 in late 1992. Reportedly still on Pan-Am roster as ST 212 and was still in operation 2010.

Vince, that is correct: It was the only one...
The unit was a replacement for #507 that was destroyed on September 10, 1963

Which ST GP35 was the one chopped up a bit for fire department training ? I thought there was some discussion about the significance of it and maybe it was the NKP 910 ......

Yo Clipman thank you for alerting me to this unit and once again for eliminating another one from the mFile

According to this page, ST 212 was the unit sacrificed for a search and rescue training

http://www.railroad.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=55&t=89062

Other searches showed there was on-line talk about saving the unit when its retirement was proposed - was anything credible ever mounted in this regard?

My version was a Wallin shot, they must have been out together that day.

I ebay'd the slide years ago but remember getting the same image from Dick and him making a big deal about how he finally got one of the two rare NKP units (the other was a C420 I recall). I'm sure the book caption is correct and that Dave shot it. I had a few McKay slides but they were all B&LE.
