Been Awhile But Elmer Returns
Author: odub

It's been a while since I posted anything. Came across a box of Elmer Hall's slides this morning so I thought I'd share some with you.

I don't know were a number of them are, but I'm sure someone out there will help with a location or two.

All photos Elmer K. Hall, collection of Don Hall.

1 - SP B30-7 possibly somewhere on the Peninsula? March of 1980.

2 - WP westbound at James led by WP GP-40 in June of 1980.

3 - WP eastbound at James with a pure WP slug of units led by a GP-40 in June of 1980.

4 - New SF Muni car in September of 1980. Check out the VW.

5 - SF Muni PCC car at the same location, same day, I'd guess.

6 - San Diego and Arizona Eastern SW-8 in San Diego in March of 1980.

Don't think Number 1 is the Pennsula.

I'm wondering if photo #1 is around Sunnyvale somehow. Having the tracks that close to the street is kinda tough to figure.
thanks for posting,
RIP Elmer.

I used to be around Elmer quite a bit back in the 80's and he did a lot of photography on the peninsula. If that first pic is around Newhall or College Park that bidge would be either Hedding or Hwy17. I don't remember any streets running beside the tracks in that area. I remember those GE's, I think they always went toward Oakland so it shouldn't be north of Santa Clara on the peninsula. He used to take movies also. If you get to playing any of those there is a good chance the location would show up in one of them and have a few more identifiers.
