The C&O car was in either the 12000 or 13000 series as a revenue box car. Those cars had the steel sheathing applied over the original outside bracing (visible along the bottom of the car) in 1941 and 1942. The cars were originally built in 1924 and 1925. If they had come from C&O series 12000-12168, they were built as C&O 82000-82999. If it had come from C&O series 13558-13828, the cars were built as Hocking Valley 34000-34999 (later C&O 83000-83999).
