This SP U33C which is now DIC {Dead in Consist} (or DIT {Dead in Train} if you prefer) in SP train #830 headed to LA for repairs. The #8704 was in a West train the day before when it caught fire. Photo taken in the Santa Barbara Yard on April 18th, 1978.

Author: miralomarail I recall being at Pepper Ave in West Colton, Ca and a Westbound was coming in off the Hot Desert with a Hot Running GE, The Engineer was calling the Roundhouse Foremen , and He said not to worry it will be just fine as it was almost there, about 2 Min later a Puff of White Smoke came up from that Hot GE and another one Bit the Dust
