SP 9814 east crossing the Sacramento River between Gibson and Sims in the mid-1990's. This 112 year old bridge is still faithfully serving the UP. I wonder how many trains in over a century of service have passed over it?

Great shot . . . can feel the warmth of the sun in late November! Is that south of Dunsmuir?

Highway engineers could learn a thing or two from RR engineers considering bridges and longevity...

All they have to do is over design their structures at least 200 to 300%.

the only thing better than a good train picture is one with a bridge in it . The Fillmore and Western has a bridge that appears identical, dated 1902. Great shot!
