Nostalgia & History > tank cars as art?Date: 11/23/12 05:19 tank cars as art? Author: santafe199 I came across this scene at the now long-gone roundhouse in Emporia, KS. It was very common to see diesel fuel tanks hanging around the RH grounds. It was very uncommon to look at them as an art form. But last week when I scanned this particular slide (along with 600 other misc. Santa Fe scenes) the heavy cobwebs of memory were whisked away. I remember this particular evening very well. The setting sun was gorgeous and I shot several engines & consists bathed in its golden colors. I know I wouldn't have shot these 2 lonely tanks for a roster record. So I must have had an eye for the artsy. Can a RR tank car form lend itself to art? 31 years later me & my new buddy photoshop took a stab at the prospect.
Something about the eye of the beholder... 1. AT&SF roundhouse scene in Emporia, KS on October 17, 1981. Thanks for peeking! Lance Garrels santafe199 Edited 1 time(s).
