Nostalgia & History > mFile from yesterday: Hamm's car or not?Date: 12/03/12 14:36 mFile from yesterday: Hamm's car or not? Author: valmont Yesterday I posted n mFile MILW pic and someone asked what this car was, and someone else thought it was a Hamm's Beer car. I zoomed it about as far as I though practical before losing more pixels in the first pic. The second one is a Hamm's car I shot in Denver on May 31, 1971. They are different types of cars .... the one in the MILW shot from yesterday appears to be a hopper ... and while the general color scheme is similar, the billboard lettering is not. That's not to say that Hamm's didn't have other schemes, but I figured I post this for comparison.
So if not Hamm's then who? Date: 12/03/12 14:53 Re: mFile from yesterday: Hamm's car or not? Author: Tony_Cook The hopper is a Peavey company car. Later versions are solid blue with red Peavey lettering. I remember these blue and white with the diamond-shaped placard being from the 1960s and 1970s.

James Kinkaid posted a scan of TLDX 6203 to the Modern Freight Car List on Yahoo! Groups. It is painted in the early Peavey scheme that Tony notes above.
