Train Inaugural on tragic day

On this date December 7, 1941 the NYC introduced the all new streamlined Empire State Express between Cleveland/Detroit and New York.
The above was overshadowed by a Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor and other military installations in Hawaii.
It would plunge the US into WW II andbecame known as the Day of infamy 2400 US service men lost there lives and 50 cvilians.

I'm reminded of the PDX Airport light rail line in the Tri-Met MAX system (Portland OR). It opened on Sept. 10, 2001. Next day, the airport would have been very quiet.
