With Early Conrail You Never Knew What to Expect
Author: RDG630

Conrail's large diesel roster made up from many railroads had an unprecedented variety. Here is an iron ore train running from Philadelphia to Bethlehem at Sellersville, Pa in 1978. The lead unit is CR GP7 #5838(ex- Reading #636) followed by a GE U25B, GP30, GP9B, GP30.

If it worked Conrail operated it. Remember Penn Central was broke and so Conrail received all their locomotives.
