few SP from the "boxes" . .
Author: 3rdswitch

. .
top: the first SP photo train that ran up to Hiland (Summit) for company photographers was headed east down Cajon Pass at Canyon siding with a Santa Fe westbound descending the south track in the distance 2-76. They ran another one a week later without the GE which made the cover of the annual report.
middle: westbound empty oil cans running along the LA river on UP rails near downtown LA 9-85.
bottom: a badly overexposed eastbound Monolith local rounding the curve at Sand Cut, CA 8-79.

DAMN! I sure hope you continue to find gems like these in those boxes! Beats GEVOs and trash-9s anyday!

Strange spot for the M. U. Cable in #3! I sure wish my reject shots looked as well as your pics from the "boxes":}

I would guess that cement covered hopper is headed to Empire, CA. The other 3 cars appear to have 3 unloading gates and would not have cement in them.

If that is the Monolith local, I would assume all of them are going to Monolith.
