Nostalgia & History > How I remember the SWPCDate: 12/10/12 17:39 How I remember the SWPC Author: lamta_jay I just saw a post on the Western Railroad section about my all time favorite industrial but I guess the place has a new owner and a new name. But I still call it SWPC or before that it was referred to as the Mojave Northern.
I got the first shot from old 66 just north of the cement plant. The FM's were by far my favorite power. As a kid I remember the green diesels running across the desert or passing over I15 near Stoddard Wells Road.1983 Second taken while on a Overnite with my son who was in the Boy Scouts. They called this the Bell Mountain survival campout...I survived with the trains going back and forth to the facility where they loaded the I think Klinker for the Cement Plant in Victorville.1986 Third is the Ill Fated GP40 running long hood first crossing Stoddard Wells Road. 1990 Next time I am down to California I need to see this operation again Thanks for looking Jay |
