NP in Denver

About 1962, Rice Yard (C & S), Denver. Just about where Elitch's is today.

Ed,

Thanks for posting that pic. Can anyone offer an explanation as to why those units were there? A runthrough agreement, or a lease deal perhaps?

Thanks,

Mark

C&S was famous for leasing power to handle seasonal traffic peaks. Usually, one of the neighboring roads was accommodating and they didn't have to resort to one as far away as the NP.

How so very interesting. I was not aware that the NP leased out down there.

Worked the othr way too. In 1965-66 the NP had FT's leased to the Rock Island when the NP's traffic was down.

Well, maybe. There were a couple of instances in
the 1960's where C&S leased GN F units. I'm thinking
this had to due with their common ownership, if I
can use that phrase.
