On the way to an Anniversary 1989
Author: lamta_jay

Back in 1989 there was a celebration at LAUPT and I was fortunate to see some of the equipment as it was on the way to LA Union Station.

In the first shot I just happened to be in the Rancho Cucamonga area since that was where my office was. As I had planned, I payed attention to what I heard on the scanner and got this shot near Mira Loma on May 5, 1989

Second two days before I was on a routine sales call in Lodi and once again I knew this E unit was on the way. 6051 is passing by the Lodi Depot on May 3, 1989

And for the grand performance a remake of an old post card I have had in my collection since I was 10 years old...I turned 60 last year !!!!! Taken at the LAUPT 50th Anniversary on May 6, 1989. Unfortunately I was not there and this is a Lee Meyers Kodachrome

That's it, I saw 2 out of three, not too bad !

Thanks for looking, "See You Down the Tracks"

Jay

Forty years before that, 1949-50-51, I was assigned at LAUPT
as Sect'y to Santa Fe Station Ticket Agent...During my lunch
hour of course, I was out on the platforms..age 20-21-22...

One of those faces hanging out of the UP steam engine may be mine. That was one hell of an impressive cab ride.
