Nostalgia & History > A Duo at Dakota Jct. On the Cowboy LineDate: 03/07/13 00:42 A Duo at Dakota Jct. On the Cowboy Line Author: CNW8531 It's not the easiest thing getting a train on the Cowboy line, and getting two in the same shot is more challenging yet. Luck must have been with me though on June 23rd of 1988. I was driving west chasing the bi-weekly CHCAA out of Chadron when I spied BFPRA dropping down from the north at Dakota Jct., Nebraska. With a little off road driving and some quick footwork required on my part, I was able to line up both trains together in the photo. Two trains at once on the Cowboy line is about like hitting the jackpot. But I'd be happy to go there now and just get one!

The only shot I ever got on that line was at Norfolk back in 1981. Thanks for your coverage of that lonely piece of railroad. Bob Helling PRose Date: 03/10/13 12:52 Re: A Duo at Dakota Jct. On the Cowboy Line Author: ngfan Did you happen to walk down to the junction switch and take a photo there???
Here is the junction from about 100 years ago, presume looking west with the Rapid City line coming on to the right. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 03/10/13 12:54 by ngfan. |
