Reading @ East Penn JCT
Author: jim6300loco

Here is a shot from Feb 2 1975. Ground hog Day. This is a picture of a eastbound Reading Freight arriving at East Penn JCT at Allentown Pa.
You have a EMD GP35 and a Alco C430. the Red Brick Building is JU Tower. Today this is the site of the CP Burn on the NS Reading Line. The far east end of the line.

Isn't the 5206 a C424? The C430's had Hi Adhesion trucks. Great pic, Ken

First, the second unit in the photo is a C-424. Second, Reading's C-430's were the only units of that model NOT on Hi-Ad trucks.

Oh I'm sorry I didn't realize there was a "dash" between the Alco model designations. And I forgot the Reading units were NOT equipped with the Hi-Adhesion truck option. I stand corrected. Ken

I just received word about the C424"s The Reading did in fact have them. It is been so long I had forgotten about them. i thought they were all C430"s. I guess with age sometimes you forget a few things.By the way I was told the c424's were ok but the c430's were considered junk.
