few for Warbonnet Wednesday . .
Author: 3rdswitch

. . few reposts from a Sept '94 visit to Santa Fe's Seligman Sub;
top: Santa Fe had a number of tunnels along it's lines but this was the only double track tunnel on the entire railroad. Santa Fe 527 leads westbound Chicago to Northern CA train 189 out of the tunnel just east of Nelson, AZ.
middle: The 889 leads westbound Houston to Barstow train HHOBA out the tunnel.
bottom: Twenty two miles east of the tunnel Santa Fe 913 led eastbound Richmond to Birmingham train PRIBH near the old station of Audley.

I had no idea that there was a double track tunnel in the West.
It looks to be 3.2 miles WSW of Grand Canyon Caverns Airport.
Thanx!
