Nostalgia & History > train 811 at duskDate: 04/18/14 05:33 train 811 at dusk Author: santafe199 Ahh, the good old days in Emporia, Kansas…
1. AT&SF 5632 leads train 811 N-1 briskly away from the Emporia passenger depot after a fresh (Eastern Division) head end crew has boarded. The outbound engineer will slow the train back down in a few seconds to change the rear end crews “on the fly”. The 811’s headlight is on dim because a westbound train is just out of frame, approaching the depot for its own crew change. Photo date: October 16, 1979. Thanks for looking back!
