MKT station at Taylor,Tx -- June 77
Author: gcm

Looking north on the Missouri-Kansas-Texas line at Taylor,Tx- about 40 miles south of Temple and 160 miles north of Houston.
There was an operator at this station close to or up to the UP takeover in 1988.
Just behind me is the Missouri-Pacific crossing.
Just north of the station is the connecting track to the MP which at this time the Inter-American used and the Texas Eagle still uses today.
Unfortunately the station did not survive.

Great shot of a fine depot. It was in disrepair when I last saw it around 1997.

Fantasxtic picture, love the Red searchlight signal. Both the depots and signals are fading fast. Have a great Easter.

What a difference a few years make. 10 years prior to that, the Katy track was a mess, although Barriger had already assumed the helm 2 years earlier (1965)and was working hard to fix years of deferred maintenance. Looking great in this photo.

And several of the operators would give you lineups and let you stay around to talk (1979-1988). Nice folks they were in the Taylor MKT depot.
