UP bookend GP30's on Special - 1977

Don't know what this train was for, where it ran from/to, but seeing 'push-pull' GP30's at opposite ends is worth a look. This is on the east side of Denver in July 1977.

All coaches...an early "Family Days" event perhaps. None the less, it is a cool catch!

With a semaphore signal that works both directions of a track, plus a tri-light working 1 direction. Interesting.

Did they run Operation Lifesaver trains in the 70's?

I would venture to guess a Family Days train on the DP. It could have been an Operation Lifesaver but 1977 was early in that program on the UP.

Definitely a Family Days special. They didn't start running Operation Lifesaver specials until the 1980s.

Think you're right, 'SD45X' -- most likely Roydale.....(and it's train-order signal.)
