The trestle did not fall on its own.
A farmer with his 4x4 truck drove
in, tied a rope around it and brought
it down. He was going to use the
timbers to build a barn. Before he
could remove any timbers, the state
beach patrol stopped him.

I can't help but wonder how many more trestles the Ocean Shore would have to build to span all the arroyos and gullies between Half Moon Bay and Davenport. It was nearly an impossible dream.

By 1920 all the trestles of the Ocean Shore Railroad had to be replaced except the Montara trestle which was rebuilt in 1916. This contributed heavily to the Ocean Shore bankruptcy.
