SP GP9s Class EF418-9 (Low Nose)

A couple more new scans:

Photo one - SP GP9’s 3711, 3658 and an SD45T-2 sit near the engine house in Tracy, CA on an unknown date in October 1972.
Reportedly, according to Strapac's great SP Compendium series, SP 3711 was built in Aug. 1959 by EMD as a model GP9, builders number 25634, SP 5875, SP Class DF-616. In 1965 it was renumbered to SP 3711 SP Class EF418-9.
This locomotive was remanufactured on Dec 1977 emerging as SP 3884 SP Class EF418R-5.
The disposition of this locomotive is, retired Dec 1986, sold Jan 1988 to Southwest Rwy Car Parts. Oct 1988 Leased to Buffalo & Pittsburgh, 1996 leased to Alaska RR. Aug 1999 went to Rock & Rail 201. Current status not known.

Photo two - SP GP9 3718 sits with U30C 7917 and a tunnel motor in LA's Taylor Yard engine terminal on Dec. 28, 1973.
Reportedly SP 3718 was built in August 1959 by EMD as a model GP9, builders number 25641, SP 5882, SP Class DF-616. In 1965 it was renumbered to SP 3718 EMD GP9, SP Class EF418-9.
This locomotive was downgraded in Nov. 1978 emerging as SP 2880 SP Class ES418-9.
The disposition of this locomotive is, it was retired in April 1985 and sold in June 1986, presumed scrapped.

Interesting series so please keep them coming.

I saw Rock & Rail 201 (former SP 3711) at the NRE Silvis, IL shop a few years ago. I'm guessing it did not leave there in one piece although it's possible it is still there as they do take their time getting to the units in the backlot at times.

low nose gp9 3713 was the first loco i ever ran. those wuz the daze.
