Nostalgia & History > SP trackage rights on BNSF Transcon to Chicago question

I found these two slides of SP Westbound and Eastbound intermodal trains using the new trackage rights from Hutchinson and Kansas City KS to Chicago. The only date on the slide is 10-95 with with notation of first run on new trackage rights at Joliet IL. I know Fred King was the engineer on the Eastbound run but don't know the exact date these started.
First pic is the Westbound rolling through the depot at Joliet. This routing was short lived for they started to run over the IC trackage rights from Chicago to Joliet where they got onto the Transcon and vice versa.
second pic is the first Eastbound rolling through Joliet and up the Santa Fe route to Chicago. Both trains came through on the same day. TIA. Dan Tracy

Yes. In the beginning the Santa Fe (BNSF) insisted on 5 HPT on all trains operating on their railroad. This was later scaled back. Dan

The expectation was that about half of the units would fail going over the road.
