Nostalgia & History > There really was a Black RockDate: 07/23/14 17:06 There really was a Black Rock Author: wjpyper We've all seen the great railroad shots in the movie Bad Day at Black Rock, which was filmed in the desert. I just found out that there really was a town called Black Rock. It was a logging town in Oregon, 3-miles west of Falls City. It was served by the Salem, FAlls City & Western Railway, which later became the SP Falls City Branch. The picture shows the Black Rock depot in 1919.

Spent a long spell there in the early 1980s while Canada Customs pulled a smuggler off a train.
