ATSF depot at Burden, Kan., in 1931
Author: JoCoLB

Here's a photo of the former Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railway depot in the small town of Burden, Kan., in May of 1931. The structure was built in 1883. It's unknown what happened to the building following its closure at the end of the passenger train era.

Compared with the rest of the state, it sure seems as though a lot fewer Santa Fe small town depots in southeast Kansas were sold and moved off-site, and I've never heard that Burden was spared.

Some older photos of the Burden depot can be found about 3/5ths of the way down this page:

As a bonus, a photo of Santa Fe's "candy striped" 2-8-2 #4004 is at the top of the page.
