Nostalgia & History > Blues and Trains in Centralia 1973Date: 07/26/14 22:57 Blues and Trains in Centralia 1973 Author: BNSF-6432 Back in the day my father thankfully shot a bunch of movies as well with an 8mm. Sound or not, its nice to look back on what I wasn't able to see. Here is one section from a trip he took to Centralia, IL in 1973 that includes Burlington, MP, IC, Southern, and AMT.
Music was added as my father uploaded this to youtube so as a forewarning, if you aren't a blues fan the mute button is near ;-) PQM You must be a registered subscriber to watch videos. Join Today! Brian Stevens Date: 07/27/14 07:58 Re: Blues and Trains in Centralia 1973 Author: ntharalson Good stuff, although I think that date in the middle was the
scan date and not the film date, LOL. Lots of Q SD7's and 9's, which this line was known for, and interesting to note many of the 7's had their number stenciled on the long hood vs. under the cab like many of the 9's did. Plus, a GN caboose on the Wisconsin Electric hopper train and an SD24 on one of the drags. Appreciate your posting this. Nick Tharalson, Marion, IA Date: 07/27/14 10:24 Re: Blues and Trains in Centralia 1973 Author: mwarfel Blues, fallen flags, and tons of cabooses - a foamer's dream! Thanks a ton for sharing!

and WHO DOES NOT LIKE THE BLUES? Sounded a bit like Albert Collins, but I do not think it was. Date: 07/28/14 07:29 Re: Blues and Trains in Centralia 1973 Author: Railtrekker I like the BLUES! Been following them since about 1972 or so, all they need is a Stanley Cup!
Oh, blues kind of music, I have to be in the mood. A fan of all kinds of music except that Rap crap. Not caring too much for this music they call country & western. Bring me the days of Merle Haggard and George Jones! (I'm showing my age!) of course this IS the NOSTALGIA Board!
