"Vintage" BNSF from 2001
Author: pummer

While rummaging around some old slides, I came across this one from October 2001. A photo of a train with a solid collection of units wearing Cascade Green was pretty mundane. What made this a favorite was the Fall scenery of the Mississippi River valley, just a few miles north of East Dubuque, Illinois. Today, the internet would be buzzing with the latest report on the whereabouts of such a consist.

Nice lighting, a river, hills full of beautiful fall foliage and a good looking train, can't go wrong with that combination! Thanks.

It looks like a weed spray train has been through there recently....lots of dead vegetation along the right of way.

I also have a shot from this spot, although I can't recall the content off
hand. For those unfamiliar with this location, this is the US61 overpass
between Dubuque and Wisconsin, a busy, four lane, 65mph (in Wisconsin) highway
with lots of trucks. I'm not too sure of the advisability of stopping for
this shot, there was construction and a lane closure when I did mine, but
the results are worth the effort. Nice shot.

Although there is a wide shoulder, definitely not a place to pull over in a vehicle. I parked behind the guard rail on the eastern approach to the bridge, walked and waited for a shot standing behind a wayward construction barrel.
