By jove you're right . . . he is just coming out of the saloon - 2nd building on the left on the main drag (and off the record, due to his long history and vast experience in railroading, he was a chief consultant on the AMC series Hell on Wheels)!

And that was quite the roundhouse for helper service back in those days.

No doubt it is. Those were the days when Bob would walk into his yard along with all his sheep and cows and the horse, look at the mess in the backyard and say 'what's all this on the ground?'

It's up to Mr. Morris, but I suspect no apologies needed. I'm pretty sure it's not everybody, just us old guys who respect old guys. Personally, I like the photo. First one I've seen in a long time from the back-of-the-house angle.

Bob would be concerned if he wasn't included in the thread. More than a few of his posts have suggested he was happily taking photos back in the day.

Its a shame the Historical Society puts their watermark right in the center of the photo. I understand why they do it, but it would be a lot nicer off center someplace. Generally the center of the photo is what the photographer wanted you to see, and with my old eyes, the watermark turns the whole center of the photo into unrecognizable hash, pretty much completely destroying the point of looking at the image in the first place.
