SOUTHERN PACIFIC RAILROAD PASSENGERS ON BOARD "THE CASCADE" RIDE IN OPEN EXCURSION CAR THROUGH OR. CASCADES [Graphic], 06/24/1928 Author: Richards, Carl P., photographer. Call Number: 015425 Database: OCLC-MARC Bibliographic (OCLC) The way I read the caption, this was a regular (summer) car on The Cascade which began running between Oakland and Portland in 1927 after the opening of the Cascade Line between Black Butte and Springfield, OR. The car had relatively high sides. (Check out the signals.) Comments and corrections welcome, Marty Bernard Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 08/20/14 15:18 by MartyBernard. Why do I now have to ride steam excursions where all the Dutch doors must remain closed at all times? How can this be? Date: 08/21/14 12:01 Re: SP Open Excursion Car on "The Cascade" in 1928 Author: Arved CA_Sou_MA_Agent Wrote:

Many years of my childhood were spent trying to find an HO scale model of that car, thank you for bringing back those memories this morning. :) |
