Nostalgia & History > Heritage Units Around The TurntableDate: 08/28/14 14:59 Heritage Units Around The Turntable Author: refarkas Perhaps you were expecting a Spencer shot of F's, E's and the PA. No, this is Brewster, Ohio on the N&W in the late 1960's/early 1970's. And "heritage units"? By this time the F's and FM's were true heritage units, and the SD's were heritage units of the future. Isn't it strange how we look at the term "heritage" differently over the years?

Neat to see a convention of 2-stroke cycle power from two different builders. It's good to see the old locomotives again, even in just a photo.
Thanks for the look back. Walter Sanfranciscotrains.org Date: 08/29/14 07:56 Re: Heritage Units Around The Turntable Author: ntharalson If this is around 1970 as the original post indicates, then even the SD9's
would be "heritage" units, having been super ceded by the SD24, the SD35, the SD40 and the SD45. Since these are ex-NKP units, it's doubtful they would have been mainline power when built. Nick Tharalson, Marion, IA Date: 08/29/14 19:27 Re: Heritage Units Around The Turntable Author: lwilton It looks to me like they are gathering for warmth around a cheery old turntable pit. Is there still a turntable in the hole?
