Station-Depot Friday, Knoxville TN

While on my way home from TVRM I stopped in Knoxville TN and took some pics of the Southern Railway Station. Here are views of the front or street side of the station.

Track side views of Southern Station in Knoxville. A nice collection of passenger cars and cabooses occupy the sole remaining station track.

Note to prevent confusion among people unfamiliar with Knoxville: the ex-L&N station, which gave its name to the defunct L&N Seafood Grill restaurant chain after the 1982 Worlds Fair -- is a different building.

Here's the depot from another perspective taken June 14, 1989 with NS 3292 coming through town. Darn power pole!

Know this station well. I used to ride the train from Johnson City to Knoxville every two weeks to see my dad in the 60's.

Nice to see the Knoxville station is such good shape. Last time I was there was on an excursion train with L&N 152. I will have to dig thru my photos to see if any of them are presentable.

What is the station used for today? Looks like a lot of money has been spent on it over the years.
