Nostalgia & History > Evanston's Park 'N' SpinDate: 09/01/14 20:59 Evanston's Park 'N' Spin Author: walstib I've been waiting to take this picture since the day I got my quadcopter in March. Today, I did it.
It's the park 'n' spin in Evanston, Wyoming -- Union Pacific's steam-era roundhouse and turntable. Evanston is where the railroad, for a time, stabled its steam locomotives for the assault on the Wahsatch Mountains between Evanston and Ogden, Utah. Today, the partially-restored roundhouse serves as a conference meeting space for the City of Evanston. The portion of the roundhouse under the gray roof is the restored part, while the white-roofed area is awaiting interior restoration. The turntable and roundhouse are part of a railroad park, which also includes a restored machine shop, foreman’s office and a men’s locker room. A power house, which is awaiting restoration, also stands. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 09/02/14 16:13 by walstib.
