Toto Tuesday: Every Hour on the Hour
Author: PRose

An eastbound AVI (Arkansas Valley Interurban) is ready for departure at Burrton, KS. Back in the 20s and 30s trains ran every hour
between Wichita and Newton and or Hutchinson, KS. The Frisco's Wichita to Ellsworth branch crossed right at the west end of the
depot.
This AVI Burrton depot, now a residence, and ones at Hutchinson and Halstead still exist.

Photographer and date unknown.
Photo courtesy of the Harvey County Historical Society.

Thanks for looking.

Truly amazing how many towns big and small that used to have electric interurban service.

Sorry to "pop" your bubble, but the O1 was the line car. The service was never "one on the hour" on the AVI. wag216

01 built as second 1, 1910, Cincinnati Car.
Renumbered 11 in 1918.
Rebuilt as line car 01 in 1918.
Wrecked in 1921.

So the photo dates 1918-1921.

Another depot exists. Valley Center is off-site, residence at 320 W. 1st St

Fred in Wichita
