Nostalgia & History > Shasta Lake low water 2008Date: 09/04/14 16:10 Shasta Lake low water 2008 Author: photobob Here's a couple of shots I took in 2008 when the lake was at a point is is today.
Photo #1 The interior of Tunnel 6 Photo #2 A northbound crossing over Tunnel 6 Photo#3 A photo from my collection showing the last train on the old line as the lake filled up Date: 09/04/14 16:20 Re: Shasta Lake low water 2008 Author: TCnR I doubt LoggerHogger has that last one in his collection.
thanks for posting. Date: 09/04/14 16:33 Re: Shasta Lake low water 2008 Author: LarryDoyle I s'pose you could do that with an oil burner, since that stuff floats.

Have a great weekend. Date: 09/04/14 16:55 Re: Shasta Lake low water 2008 Author: Stottman The first tunnel was exposed a couple weeks ago when I drove through.
The second one was not. Date: 09/04/14 17:18 Re: Shasta Lake low water 2008 Author: Torisgod I thought that LoggerHogger was the original one to create that Cab-Forward picture! Originally it showed Bob standing on the ridge overlooking the lake and partly-submerged tunnel, looking through his camera, and captioned "Photobob resurrects a Cab-Forward from Shasta Lake".

Can't believe it was only a year ago.

Date: 09/05/14 08:59 Re: Shasta Lake low water 2008 Author: dmaffei I was there when he shot the photo. He was shooting B&W film I suppose. He was wearing the hat given to him by the Pope at the Vatican. Only Bob can get a cabforward to come out of the waters of Lake Shasta

The cab forward isn't making much of a wake so must be moving at restricted speed, as he should with water over the rails.

Thanks Bob, for this humorous shot and your wonderful (more serious) photography! Let's hope and pray Lake Shasta will soon be back at its 4.5 million acre feet of capacity... (Perhaps there is a "Daylight" PA down under the lake as well???)
