I s'pose you could do that with an oil burner, since that stuff floats.

The first tunnel was exposed a couple weeks ago when I drove through.

The second one was not.

I thought that LoggerHogger was the original one to create that Cab-Forward picture! Originally it showed Bob standing on the ridge overlooking the lake and partly-submerged tunnel, looking through his camera, and captioned "Photobob resurrects a Cab-Forward from Shasta Lake".

Do the marker lights designate "port and starboard"?

Couldn't do that with a diesel. You would have a ground short in the traction motors!

The second one (Tunnel 5) has since broken the surface:

Geez, I've been looking for that thread for hours. Can't believe it was only a year ago.

Too bad we can't find a cab forward down there too...

I was there when he shot the photo. He was shooting B&W film I suppose. He was wearing the hat given to him by the Pope at the Vatican. Only Bob can get a cabforward to come out of the waters of Lake Shasta

Interesting tunnel photos for sure. The cab forward isn't making much of a wake so must be moving at restricted speed, as he should with water over the rails.

This is enough to derail your train of thought! Thanks Bob, for this humorous shot and your wonderful (more serious) photography! Let's hope and pray Lake Shasta will soon be back at its 4.5 million acre feet of capacity... (Perhaps there is a "Daylight" PA down under the lake as well???)
