An afternoon along the SP/SSW in 1988
Author: BNSFDS

I've rendered and edited more retro video shot by the late Mike Gitlin. This time we are trackside along the Southern Pacific/Cotton Belt main line between Pine Bluff and San Antonio in the small town of Corsicana, Texas. Highlights include a high hood GP7R, TEBU's on a mixed freight, even a Kodachrome SD45T-2. Mike was gracious enough to give me this video prior to his passing several years ago.

Enjoy

Great horn use typical of the South on the SP during that time period.

As Corsicana, TX was my hometown, I want to thank you so much for sharing this video. I have few images of railroading from my hometown. Best wishes, Kelly

I'm sure Mr. Gitlin would be very happy to know you are working on his videos and sharing them.

Thanks,
Marty Bernard

Two good videos I enjoyed watching. Thanks for posting.

Nitpick. The high hood geep is a GP9r. I'm not going to say
the SP didn't have GP7's, but I don't recall seeing any pictures
of them.

About the "Kodachrome" 9319. That engine made the UP merger in
that paint!! I have a shot of it on an eastbound train in
central Iowa in about 1997 I ahve yet to scan. (Only up to 1994.)
Needlees to say it got more than one frame of film.

Nick it ain't knit picking when you're right. I just looked at it again and realized it was a GP9 due to the lack of louvers under the cab. Good catch.

Steve, also thanks for sharing. Mike was always helpful to me in many ways and I know that he would have enjoyed seeing his videos on Trainorders.
