Date: 09/16/14 15:11 Re: A where-iz-it from 1975... Author: iliketrains Oh Steve. That's the westbound daily freight from El Centro to San Diego leaving the Jacumba Station and going under Old Highway 80. In about 1/4 mile, the tracks will be about 50 feet from the USA/Mexico border. Next stop will be Campo for orders and perhaps lunch before dropping down thru Division into Mexico on the Tijuana & Tecate Railway.
Terrific line with LOTS and LOTS of history. It's the main story told by the Pacific Southwest Railway Museum in Campo. I've been the engineer on this segment of the San Diego & Arizona Eastern Railway - both passenger and freight. Date: 09/16/14 15:15 Re: A where-iz-it from 1975... Date: 09/16/14 15:17 Re: A where-iz-it from 1975... Author: iliketrains I wish I had railfanned this line more - too busy building a railway museum to fan it.

As iliketrains said, westbound SP freight, about 1/2 mile away from beginning its climb up the 2.2 percent grade to Hipass! Been over this line many times with PSRM, SDIV and CZRY!! Are you sure about the photo at 67.2, it looks more like just east of La Posta Rd, MP 69.9! To me, the height of the fill and that corner of the field on the left side of the photo, looks like MP 69.9. I enjoy ALL your photos Steve! Mike Date: 09/16/14 23:12 Re: A where-iz-it from 1975... Author: the_expediter You're prob. right, Mike. Don't think Ed labelled the slides he took...I was the one that guessed where they were taken...Steve
