Nostalgia & History > Looking for information on MoPac "Texas Triangle" trainDate: 09/18/14 08:22 Looking for information on MoPac "Texas Triangle" train Author: CameronM Howdy everyone!
I'm doing some research on the MoPac Texas Triangle trains and ran across a posting about them from last year. I'm looking to find out as much as possible about them as they appear to be the first usage of the term "Texas Triangle"-a term now used frequently to describe the high-growth region between Dallas/Ft Worth-Houston and San Antonio. They apparently were fairly short-lived. I first found mention of them in a MoPac press release mentioned in the Galveston Daily News of May 6, 1936 that stated the train would begin operation on May 17 of that year-and can find no mention of them post WWII. I was beginning to think it had been one of those trains like The Chessie that was advertised but never actually operated until I found a posting about them on here. Does anyone have any other information about them? Information about consists etc. would be really helpful. Thanks much!
