top: This exGM&O GP 35 was sitting in the engine facility at McComb, MS 8-75. middle: Talk about timing is everything, during an Aug '76 vacation I was hoping to see a few of the many variants of red white blue paint that many railroads applied to locomotives to celebrate the country's BiCenntennial. Driving into the south end of ICG's exIC Markham yard on the south side of Chicago here comes ICG's one and only BiCenntennial painted locomotive departing south with a great mix of power including three new GP40P's destined Sonora Baja California railroad. What were the odds! bottom: On a summer '87 visit to Jackson, MS three IC Paducah rebuilt SD20's led southbound loaded grain train CN5 passing through Jackson Union Station. Keep more IC / ICG stuff coming! - Norm Date: 09/18/14 13:23 Re: few ICG . . . Author: Bob3985 Note the GM&O Geep's had the Alco trucks under them that they traded in on them. Example in photo#1.

The first one, ( both units were GP38AC's) I believe hit a fuel truck in Brookhaven, MS on 10 Mar 75, and the engineer was killed. I remember seeing this unit on display in Nashville, TN in '76, when ICG could actually get into Nashville.

I love bicentennials but I would have to say the GP35 is my favorite of this group. The pictures prove that ICG sure could throw together a dogs day breakfast of power if they wanted too. Kris |
