There is no wrong answer here. These are my three: Milwaukee Road, Western Maryland, Virginian, beautiful scenery, interesting equipment, friendly employees. I'm great if we could add to that NP, GN, WP, NYC, PENSY, CNW, IC ... etc. etc. What ever happened to the Sherman Anti-trust Act anyway? Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 09/19/14 08:55 by warrenpweiss. poorly managed. Was in decline after 1925 and no one knew it until the Penn Central. Also, not the Milwaukee, because there were better roads out there. And NOT that piece of junk called the Rock Island. After Nels Farrington left, it wasn't a mighty fine line! First: Great Northern. Great paint scheme (orange) and well managed. Second: Santa Fe. Iconic trains and paint. Third: Nickle Plate. If you could survive against the NYC and PRR, you were pretty good. Not to mention their awesome steam. Have a flaming blast.
