Nostalgia & History > Maroon Monday, More Rock Island E-unitsDate: 09/29/14 16:03 Maroon Monday, More Rock Island E-units Author: MartyBernard 1. CRI&P E9A 663, ex-UP 901, built in May 1956 sitting next to the depot in Joliet on May 17, 1977. This is the location Metra just vacated.
2. 663 this time at the Beverly Branch location at the Vermont Street Station in Blue Island, IL on the evening of June 24, 1977. I don't know why the red was so different from Picture 1. Both slides are Kodachromes. Could she have been repainted and gotten dirty in a month? 3. Rock Island E9A 664, ex-UP 903 at the mainline location at the Vermont Street Station in Blue Island, IL on the evening of June 24, 1977. Enjoy, Marty Bernard Edited 2 time(s). photos. Did the Rock lease those ex-CNW Amtrak coaches. This is the first time I've seen that. Thanks for posting, Marty. Nick Tharalson, Marion, IA Date: 09/30/14 11:01 Re: Maroon Monday, More Rock Island E-units Author: Englewood ntharalson Wrote:

Rode them several times before the Peninsula 400 was discontinued.
