Telephone poles as far as the eye can see! Photo taken sometime in 1965. Do not know who took photo. (Photo/PRS Archive)

Nice long peak travel consist, including the "Shasta Daylight" triple unit Coffee Shop-Kitchen-Diner still in "Daylight" colors. And an Articulated Chair car in silver with red stripe but still wearing its original fluting. And a Dome Lounge. You'd hardly know the train was on the decline except for the austerity paint scheme that had almost taken over the exterior.

At this time or shortly after, an off-peak "Daylight" would often be an A-B set of F-units, the Chair Baggage combine, that rebuilt "Timberline Tavern" high-capacity Chair Car with the two sizes of windows, an Automat, another Chair Car, and the Parlor-Observation. The decline would be obvious to all under those circumstances.
