Milwaukee's lone VO-660 was renumbered 985.

Prior to seeing this photo, I'd never known that engine ever had visited Minneapolis or St. Paul. Thanks for finding it and posting.

If they were looking for smoke, I think they found it!

That bluff in the background sure doesn't look like Minneapolis. Perhaps St. Paul.

521 was a Baldwin class L2a 2-8-2.

Photo 5 of the Skytop obs shows that the competition (C&NW) bought an ad for its rival 400 right across the street from the Milwaukee's Minneapolis Station. Funny.

Sign looks like "400" beer, to me.

The MILW seemed to do a lot of renumbering.

It is indeed a beer ad. Fox Head 400 beer was brewed in Waukesha, Wisconsin, though I don't when they quit brewing there. I remember the old brewery building remaining at the Soo Line / C&NW diamonds in Waukesha until probably the late 1960s. It was across the C&NW tracks from their Waukesha depot, which still stands.

And across the street from the C&NW station was the Club 400, where Les Paul got his start...
