Yes I thought they would be around forever. This was taken at Red Bluff, Ca. back in 1987.

Boy, if there was ever a photo that just screams "Southern Pacific!", this is one of them. But I noticed something that I'd never seen before. The lead SD9E has GP9 style stacked lettering. Were there many SD9s so lettered?

Couple posts here discussed the stacked lettering but I don't remember the count of how many had it.

Third unit looks fresh out of the paintbooth:)
