Caboose at Jeffersonville, Indiana?
Author: wabash2800

I was at the Steamboat Days Festival last weekend and noticed a steel caboose on display next to the "Preservation Station" (apparently a former PRR station) near Chestnut Street.

It is painted a bright red with a fooby PRR keystone on it. The caboose looks like an Eastern type but with a bay window in addition to the cupola. It's obviously not a PRR car. What RR did it come from?

Sorry, my camera is broken, so I could not take photos.

The station is the exPRR Jeffersonville station that was moved from trackside to the park 20+ years ago.
The exNYC station is still at its original site.

I think the ex-New Haven NE caboose had the cupola windows blanked and a bay window added during Penn Central days. Some of those units continued into Conrail.

The I&O still has one in McCullough Yard in Norwood OH in use as a shoving platform. It's Con-grafitti blue

Thanks for the info. I would think it would be appropriate to repaint into a PC garb when it needs a repaint some day. What do you all think?

I agree, they looked pretty snappy in that paint scheme. Ken
