Depot Friday, Milwaukee Road's at Mt. Carroll, Illinois
Author: MartyBernard

These slides were made August 5, 1964. The crew had work at Mt. Carroll. In Photo 2 the GP7 #220 and a sister #222 are hiding behind the depot. Check out those order boards.

Enjoy,
Marty Bernard

Lived in Savanna IL part of 1974 during a short period of civilian employment with the Department of the Army. My dentist was in Mt. Carroll and on one visit two FP45's, using the track occupied by No. 220 in Image 2, were on the ground. Of course I didn't have a camera with me.

At the time, I thought the crew was pretty optimistic to have attempted operating those motors on that rail.

I like it! Classic geeps going by a classic depot, can't get that today. Good shots!

That is a fairly modern depot by Milwaukee Road standards.....especially for a small town like Mt. Carroll. Great photos!! The depot was removed around 1978.

IIRC the order boards at Davis Jct were similar. Nice views Marty!
