I'm pretty sure I was east of SPUD by a few blocks and the train has pulled out of SPUD. I didn't record the train number/name.

St. Paul passenger engine crews worked those passenger trains between St. Paul and LaCrosse, WI.

Date: 10/24/14 18:53 Re: Another Milwaukee Road Pass Train Near SPUD, 1964 Author: czephyr17 This would have to be train 56, "The Fast Mail", which was due out of St Paul at 8:15 pm for Chicago. As the name would imply, it was mostly baggage cars, but it did carry a coach.

the Milwaukee would use various combinations of E and F units, the B's were all F's IIRC, usually, there were only three per train. Four is unusual, and given #56's priority, that would be the train that got the power. Nick Tharalson, Marion,IA |
