A freight coming through Hamlet, NC in 1989 has a grey ghost GP30 slug leading on a dreary day in April 1989.

Just curious why are you calling the GP30 a slug? Slugs typically have no cabs or controls of any kind. They are simply a locomotive frame with wheels (trucks) and traction motors that connect to a mother unit to get their power.

Still on the CSX roster 25 years later. Slugs can last forever. This is an ex-B&O unit.
